1. General description

    The Cross-National Equivalent File (CNEF) is a dataset managed by the Ohio State University. The CNEF data file contains ex-post equivalenced and harmonised socio-economic data from national surveys in Australia, Canada, Germany, Korea, Russia, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States between 1970 and 2013, thus allowing longitudinal cross-national research on topics such as employment and income. Its website provides information on the CNEF datafile, the underlying datafiles and information on how to access and use the data.

  • Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID, United States) is included for the years 1970 to 2009
  • Russia Longitudinal Monitoring Survey (RLMS-HSE) is included for the years 1995-2012
  • Swiss Household Panel (SHP) is included for the years 1999 to 2013
  • Canadian Survey of Labour and Income Dynamics (SLID) is included for the years 1993 to 2010
  • German Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) is included for the years 1984 to 2013
